What to do if your baby has diarrhea

Diarrhea is one of the four most common diseases in children, manifested in an increased number of stools, abnormal stools, severe fever, vomiting and dehydration. When your baby has diarrhea, you must not just think about stopping the diarrhea, but you must think about what is the cause of your baby’s diarrhea. Once you find the cause, you can then treat the symptoms.

The first cause: caused by cold. The baby did not cover well at night and caught a cold, or ate cold food caused by. The stool is green, foamy, watery, and not smelly. The baby will have a tummy ache. For diarrhea caused by cold, warm compresses should be applied to the abdomen, and older babies can have moxibustion for the navel and the middle of the stomach. Depending on the age of the size of 5-10 minutes can be. If you don’t want to moxibustion or for small babies, you can dry fry moxa leaves in a frying pan over a slow fire, heat them up, wrap 3 thin cloth packets and place them on the navel and two feet. The belly button can be fixed with the side of the diaper, and the feet can be put directly in the socks. Stay for 24 hours. It is best to use aged mugwort leaves that are more than 2 years old, because aged mugwort has a pure and mild smell and is less irritating. Besides, don’t let the baby get cold and don’t eat cold food. The little tummy should be warmed up.

The second cause: diarrhea caused by accumulation of food. The baby’s spleen and stomach function is not yet sound, eat more, can not digest, or eat food that is not easy to digest, it causes diarrhea, not a lot of times a day, pulled out with milk flaps, food residues, dark color, mostly black. A sour smell. Smaller babies also have vomiting. For diarrhea caused by accumulation of food, what should be done is to eliminate food and lead to stagnation. Drink Jiao Sanxian water: 6 grams each of Jiao Shanzha, Jiao Shenqu, and Jiao malt, add two bowls of water and boil them into a bowl of water, and give the child the right amount depending on the size of the child. If you don’t have Jiao Sanxian, you can also drink Jiao Mi Soup or Jiao Mi Water.

The diarrhea can also be treated with Tui Na techniques.

The first step. Tonic the spleen meridian, which is located on the outer edge of the thumb, pushing from the fingertip to the heel of the finger. Tonifying the Spleen meridian strengthens the spleen and benefits the stomach, aiding digestion. The second step is to tonify the large intestine meridian, which is on the radial edge of the index finger, close to the thumb side for the radial side. Stimulating the large intestine meridian can treat constipation, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Push from the heel of the finger to the tip of the finger for drainage, and from the tip of the finger to the heel of the finger for tonic. For diarrhea, you need to drain first and then tonic. Empty the accumulated food in the belly before tonic. Step 3. Rub the plate door, the plate door in the thumb heel under the big fish, rub the plate door on the accumulation of food, diarrhea, abdominal distension has a very good effect. Step four. Press and knead the Upper Juxu point, which is located on the front and outer side of the calf, 6 inches below the calf’s nose, which is the eye of the outer knee. Measure 8 fingers down from the outer knee eye. One finger from the front edge of the tibia. This point is on the foot Yangming Stomach meridian and is also a lower meridian of the Large Intestine meridian. It provides relief for stomach and large intestine disorders. The combination of these four points is very effective in treating diarrhea with accumulated food.

The third condition: . Caused by bacterial or viral infection. Mainly dishes bottles are not thoroughly washed and disinfected, eat unhygienic food, caused by the infection. The poop is like thin rice soup, with foam, mucus or pus and blood. Diarrhea caused by bacterial or viral infections requires prompt medical attention. The doctor will test the baby’s stool. The stool should retain moisture and not be pooped on the diaper for more than two hours. We can put a plastic wrap on the diaper when the baby is about to poop. Wrap it in time to send it to the laboratory. The doctor will usually prescribe three types of medicine: antibiotics, probiotics and montelukast, three in a row or two in a row. You must remember the order of the doctor’s orders when taking them, the order is not good enough to cure and there are side effects. Antibiotics, such as cephalosporins, can quickly kill all kinds of bacteria, good and bad. Probiotics are commonly used to help restore the balance of the normal intestinal flora, but they can also be killed by antibiotics. Montelukast has an extremely strong adsorption effect on bacteria and viruses in the intestine, but it also adsorbs antibiotics and probiotics, so when taking it, take the antibiotics first to kill the digestive tract germs. After an interval of 2 hours, take montelukast to adsorb bacteria and viruses and the toxins they release; after taking two or three doses, take probiotics to help restore the balance of normal intestinal flora.

The fourth condition: caused by lactose intolerance. There are two kinds of lactose intolerance, one is the baby’s own intestinal lactase secretion is low, can not completely break down the lactose in breast milk or milk powder. The other is the intestinal infection caused by germs, resulting in damage to the intestinal mucosa and thus a reduction in lactase. The stool has milk flaps or foam in it. It is yellow or green in color, thin paste or egg-flake soup. Tummy rises and farts are frequent. For babies who are lactose intolerant, if they are breastfed, you can give them lactase before breastfeeding. You can also adjust the frequency of breastfeeding and have small and frequent meals. Do not eat too much at one time. Mom should try to eat less sugary foods. For babies who drink formula, switch to a professional lactose-free formula for diarrhea, and then take regular formula when the baby is well and the lactase in the baby’s intestines is gradually increasing.

Lastly, what babies fear most about diarrhea is not the diarrhea itself, but dehydration, which can be life-threatening in severe cases. It is important to hydrate your baby, not with plain water, but with water in the body, for example, millet porridge, noodle soup, cooked carrot paste, or buy oral salt rehydration solution. Follow the instructions and give it to your baby.
